Over ten years of development have produced the TD-2000 modular OTDR. Unsurpassed for flexibility, a single mainframe can be used for all applications, from high resolution single-mode and multimode testing, to a combination module for both high resolution and long haul testing. The TD-2000 Optical Time Domain Reflectometer operates by firing a pulse of light into one end of a fiber, Front Panel Controls then by precisely timing the arrival of reflections, exact distances to cable faults can be displayed on the built-in CRT screen. FLEXIBILITY:

The TD-2000 system is made up of a single mainframe and a series of optical modules. Mainframe functions include data collection, display and storage. Each optical module contains one or two lasers and a detector optimized for specific fiber tests. Users need to learn only one set of controls, regardless of the application.

COMPATIBILITY:

The control panel layout is the same as our previous two generations of OTDR's. Trace files can be viewed on the TD-2000. The MS-DOS@ operating system used in the TD-2000 is the same one used on many desktop computers, Interfaces include RS-232, GPIB (IEEE-488) and a parallel printer port. EXPANDABILITY:

Powerful as it is, options can be added to the TD-2000 to increase performance. Up to 1 Megabyte of RAM can be installed to allow storage of multiple fiber traces. The TD- 259 ASCII keyboard speeds the entry of trace header information. An internal plotter can is added to provide hard copy output. An optional internal modem can be used to transmit traces over a standard telephone line.
