Product Description

Used, Vytran model PTR-200-ARL Automatic Recoating System with Linear Tensioner and 480um Mold. The unit is not 100% functional and needs some repairs as listed below.

Unit was partially tested on bench. Attached MCM-200-ARL controller to test recoater and tested operation of controller. All function buttons appeared to operate. Problem with injection of compound into the molds. Also front test button did not work - found connection disconnected to main PCB board.

Applied power to the unit and attached the Vytran VYC-200C controller to the unit. We were able to operate the unit from the controller. Menu screen was functional for various tasks. The right tensioner block initialized. The test and recoating blue buttons did not operate initially when pressed. Found connector disconnected inside the unit on the PCB. All connections from the pump to the recoating module were connected. Setup on air compressor and vacuum pump to check operation of the fiber holder and the re-coater modules. Vacuum ports were operational in the fiber holders. The molds were slow to respond in opening and closing initially. Manually operated the molds to open and close, then the compressed air supply operated the mold open and close - still slow but better than originally. The movement is still binding slightly and will need to be cleaned. The rails are probably covered with some of the recoating compound. Purged the system with acetone to remove all of the recoating compound in the system. Tested the injection system, could not see any fluid coming out of the injection port in the mold.

Manufacturer Description

PTR-200 recoaters restore the protective UV-cured acrylate or polyimide coating to a stripped fiber. The result is a recoated fiber section that is as smooth and flexible as the original fiber. In a proof-test mode (linear), PTR-200 proof testers apply a set load at a controlled rate to an optical fiber or fusion splice to assess the long-term reliability of the fiber.
